BANJUL -- China has offered 400 short term study packages to the Gambia government as part of bilateral education exchange between the two countries, Gambia's information minister, Demba A. Jawo said on Wednesday at a press conference.
China said on Monday it opposed the United States selling weapons to Taiwan, after the Trump administration approved the marketing license required for US manufacturers to sell technology to Taiwan that would allow for building submarines.
Faced with new requirements for various tasks in the new era, the current structure and functions of Party and State institutions are not completely suitable for implementing the five-sphere integrated plan and the four-pronged comprehensive strategy, nor for modernizing China's system and capacity for governance, it said.
Jawo said the beneficiaries will be trained on information and communications for mainstream media and government officials, mainly staff of his ministry and its line agencies.
"We can partner with China toward the goal. We can also collaborate in e-commerce. These are all the tremendous opportunities for us to develop where both sides can work together," Beck added.
BEIJING - China's national legislature underlined Party's leadership when summarizing its work over the past five years on Sunday.
Last month, US President Donald Trump signed a bill that encourages visits between the United States and Taiwan at all levels, which China strongly opposed.
